One Spring Summer project down, many many many more to go.   Well on Saturday I finally finished the deck, well I didn’t do all the work, I helped out mostly.  My cousin did a great job with the plan, and was a great construction manager on the job.  But for a much as he and TheQueen made fun of me for ” watching him do all the work “, I DID do some work on this.  After all it was MY idea for how the deck floor was laid out.

Here are some final construction photos, only the staining remains and that will need to be done when I get some clear sunny days free of rain.

You all will think I am nuts, but even at 30′ x 15′ the deck seems small now that I have all the rails on it.  The thing is approximately the size of my Family Room and Kitchen combined.

Now if I can just figure out how I am going to rid of this mess that has been here since the pool was installed.

If anyone wants to stop by, we are almost ALWAYS home.

Those were the gopher holes as I call them, like the close up? Next are a couple of my cousin and I digging the first hole.

Yeah, that was me up there in the gray hoodie. Now here are some where there was actual progress, the framing.

And lastly the pics of the ALMOST completed deck, hey atleast I have the flooring done and most of the rail.

Well that is all for now, weather permitting I SHOULD get the deck all put together this weekend. I promise I will post the pics with the post this time.

Forgive me its been 8 days since my last blog post.   Is there some sort of penance that I will need to say to pay for this sin?  Last week I was just not feeling well, stupid weather cannot make up its mind if it wants to be spring or winter, so the cold and flu keep visiting us.

I did make significant progress on the deck on Sunday ( for those who really care, which is probably noone but TheQueen ), I finished the flooring and have as much of the rail up as I had materials.  I worked on it from 9am till about 8pm, got a pretty good sunburn.  Just need to get a couple more pieces of wood and I will be good to go for the building portion then I’ll have to stain it.

It looks real nice and it is great to be able to cook outside and be able to walk right into the kitchen instead of having to walk all through the house like I had to do before.  If the weather ever cooperates I am sure we will be enjoying our new outside living area.

I stayed home Monday from work, was not feeling too well.  I did get outside later in the day and worked on my project list.

Clean Pool 

Of course this is a never ending project all summer, but the initial cleaning and shock treatment has been applied.

I also got the floor boards cut for one of the 3 sections of the deck and half of those screwed down.  Don’t seem like much progress but for all the troubles I had on Sunday trying to get the flooring level it is a good start.

I am still optimistic about getting the flooring completed by early afternoon Sunday.  Although if The Queen wants me to work on one of her projects on Saturday, then I don’t think I will meet my imaginary deadline.

Well I didn’t get as much done on Saturday as I had hoped, there were a few unforseen events that I had not planned for.  First I forgot that I was going to have to watch the kids while the Queen took the Boy to his Soccer game.  Game was at 11, so I didn’t get out in the morning to get anything done.  Then my parents came over after the game, so I didn’t get started on my first project till about 12:30ish.  So what did I actually completely check off my list…

1. Cut Grass

I did make some progress on the deck, we finished the framing, got the handrail post up, all but 1, that post splintered in the week I had it waiting to put it on the deck.  So that really put a major cramp on the deck progress.  But there are some pickets up and I will hopefully get to some flooring today ( Sunday ).
