Did everyone miss me? You don’t have to answer that, I know your answer. ” You were gone?”

Well it’s been like 12 days since the last post and I wish I could say that we had just gotten back from a wonderful Anniversary vacation to Hawaii, but I cannot. Or in the words of Busy Dad.. it was “my crazy schedule which consisted daily of work and conference activities during the day, official banquets with government folks at night (where much drinking ensued), followed by unofficial but essential business-building activities that lasted until early morning”, but again I cannot.

No … I have just been lazy, unmotivated and basically noting interesting has happened in the last 12 days. We did finally get to actually use the deck for something other than a place to put my grill last night, the neighbors across the street came over and the women drank themselves silly while I kept the firepit going.

We had a little issue with the heat from the firepit heating up the composite decking below it, hopefully the water I threw under it and the scrap wood blocked the heat enough not to ruin the decking already. We shall see when I get home. Looks like another building project.. Build something for the firepit to sit on so it don’t ruin my deck project. This one I KNOW will be quick and easy.

Well, until the next time the ladies get together for their fireside sex chat I am signing off, gotta grab that phone call and make some money.

I know TheQueen is going to be mad that I beat her to posting a Happy Anniversary post but hey you snooze you loose right?  I just want to wish her a Happy 9th Anniversary, as usual there is nothing mushy in my writing, I guess I used it all up in our first 5 years together.  Maybe next year for our 10th Anniversary, if I start jotting things down now I will have some new material.  But for now… Te Amo Mi Amor

One Spring Summer project down, many many many more to go.   Well on Saturday I finally finished the deck, well I didn’t do all the work, I helped out mostly.  My cousin did a great job with the plan, and was a great construction manager on the job.  But for a much as he and TheQueen made fun of me for ” watching him do all the work “, I DID do some work on this.  After all it was MY idea for how the deck floor was laid out.

Here are some final construction photos, only the staining remains and that will need to be done when I get some clear sunny days free of rain.

You all will think I am nuts, but even at 30′ x 15′ the deck seems small now that I have all the rails on it.  The thing is approximately the size of my Family Room and Kitchen combined.

Now if I can just figure out how I am going to rid of this mess that has been here since the pool was installed.

If anyone wants to stop by, we are almost ALWAYS home.

Those were the gopher holes as I call them, like the close up? Next are a couple of my cousin and I digging the first hole.

Well that is all for now, weather permitting I SHOULD get the deck all put together this weekend. I promise I will post the pics with the post this time.

Since the beginning of this year, I have had many things go wrong in my life, family and with friends, and each time I thought to myself “what else can go wrong?” But I said I had to stop saying that because then the worse would come.  Well today, a few minutes ago the worst came.  I got laid off of work.  I have worked in the Real Estate Industry for 20 years and even though I knew that there was a possibility something like this would happen I just prayed that it wouldn’t and that the economy would pick up. Well that is not so and as my boss put it “it is getting worse”.  She did make me feel better by saying that they would hire me back once buisness picked up but heck what will I do now? I have bills to pay………  Damn this sucks!!!!!!!!!!
