This weekend we had the pool installers come out and give us an estimate on how much it was going to cost to install our pool. This wouldn’t have been necessary if last year a different installer told us that it was going to be 12-$1500 to just install it, that was not including the $3000+ for the actual pool. We promptly canceled our pool last year after hearing that cost. This year we have the extra money but are hoping it will be a bit less, so off to buy another pool we went.

Guy set up his slope-figure-it-outer tool and tells me its a 25″ slope and we get what 3″ free.. so that’s……. ( I say 22″ ) . So that’s $20×22″ = $440 to dig the hole.

Then I ask about the sand and leveling blocks, he tells me I don’t know, whatever Maria told you. Ok then about $250 for the materials, that’s what she said last week, I just wanted to confirm.

Now, what about hauling away the dirt you dig up? I tell him last year they wanted to charge me $800+ to haul it away, he looked kinda surprised it was so high. He proceeds to tell me he don’t know how much it will be, he will need to get another guy to come haul it out and it will depend on how many trips it will take him. I ask for a rough estimate and he starts to blabber something about $175ish per load, maybe more maybe less he don’t know. And he don’t know how many loads it will take.

So far this was a waste of time for him to come out, since I already knew basically how much the slope was in the yard and I really needed a haul away price.

Back to his truck and I told him I needed his business info for the building permit, ( you know the basics, phone, address, license etc. ) so I ask if he has a card, yep. I look it over real quick, see the company name and phone so I tell him I need his business license number for the village. He don’t know it, calls the office, mumbles something in the phone and says Maria will call me back and he will call me with a haul away price.

I ask him if he is registered with the village he babbles something again about doing alot of work in the area a few years ago so he thinks so. ( me: smacks forhead )

Sunday I get a call from Maria..

Maria: You needed a number from us?
Me: Yes
Maria: OK here it is 815xxxxxxxx
Me: What’s that?
Maria: The village phone number
Me: No, I need your license number
Maria: 630xxxxxxx
Me: Not your phone number, your business license number
Maria: Hang on
( 5 minutes go by )
Maria: 07-xxx, thats our registration number
Me: OK

Now I know this cannot be right but whatever, its pointless, I’ll write it down and let the village deal with it.

Damn I still need their address. I call her back within 2 minutes, no answer. Leave message to call me.

Monday comes… Tuesday goes… Here it is Wednesday now we gotta call her back again or we will not get the permit in time.

This will be a miracle if this thing gets installed in 8 days and installed correctly. Oh and I am still waiting for the haul away price too.
